Team: Learning Technologies
Seta joined CILT (CET) as a Learning Technologies Consultant in September 2010 from UCT Libraries, where she worked as a Training and Information Services Librarian, based in the Knowledge Commons, from March 2004 to August 2010. The highlight of her time there was being selected, as part of a Carnegie Corporation of New York funding initiative, to spend time at U.S. Research Libraries, exploring and observing the ways in which they support postgraduate students and faculty research initiatives/projects at their universities and to report back to UCT Libraries on her observations and experiences.
Her current work in CILT is primarily to support the use of Vula, UCT's online learning management system, other software programmes that CILT subscribes to on behalf of UCT (such as Turnitin and Adobe Connect), and provide front-line support for UCT lecture recording. Additionally, she acts as the CHED liaison to the UCT Library Working Group. Her interest areas include information retrieval, knowledge management and and digital curation, particularly the design and creation of interactive learning objects. In 2017, Seta was the first graduate of the Master of Philosophy specialising in Digital Curation programme run by the UCT Library and Information Studies Centre (LISC), receiving the degree with distinction. Her dissertation investigated possible reasons for the low rates of researcher deposit into OpenUCT, UCT's open access repository.
