Nokuthula Vilakati: Universal Design for Learning Advocacy & Support

Nokuthula Vilakati
Nokuthula serves in an advocacy and supportive role for the Universal Design for Learning Project. She trains and supports a cadre of postgraduate students on supporting teaching staff to create multimedia learning assets, for accessibility and inclusion. She has passion for equity, diversity, and inclusion in working with blended approaches to curriculum design. She is Coordinator for instructional design and development with the University of Eswatini. She has contributed to an institutional policy on Open Educational Resources as well as piloting institutional quality assurance guidelines. She has supported several African universities on collaborative design projects to create distance and blended learning materials, through various Commonwealth of Learning initiatives. She began her career as Research assistant with the Swaziland Oral History Project, at the University of the Witwatersrand. She has a Master in Instructional Design and Technology (Open University, Malaysia) and a Master in International Education (University of Sussex). She is currently undertaking PhD in Education research at UCT, on academic staff development for blended approaches to curriculum design.
