Online Assessment Workshop Series

This online learning experience creates a space for you to think about assessment in online spaces. Through engaging with an online assessment challenge of your own, you will be introduced to key concepts and common challenges of online learning. In order to get the most out of this experience, you will need to be able to schedule approximately 20 minutes daily for engagement with content in the Vula site, including accessing the group chatroom, and be eager to interact with others on issues pertaining to designing online assessment.

We imagine this week to: 1) be a stimulus to your deeper engagement with an online assessment challenge and hope to walk part of that journey with you, 2) facilitate connections between colleagues focusing on questions related to online assessment.

This online workshop will focus on the following three issues:

  • ‘Doing assessment’ online - is it a case of transferring face-to-face assessment to an online environment?
  • The affordances and challenges of online assessment - a continuum from formative to summative assessment?
  • Online assessment practices - issues of purpose; format; grading; feedback; teaching and learning
