The University of Cape Town Teaching and Learning Conference on 20 October 2014 served as an opportunity to reflect on our teaching and to consider the complexities and challenges of teaching at UCT in the current South African context. More than 70 presenters replied to the call for submissions in July, and more than 65 sessions were held on the day.
The theme, “Designing Teaching, Deepening Learning”, offered presenters and participants the opportunity to reflect on their experience, practices and/or research in relation to:
Providing teaching for student success within and across disciplines, in small and large classes;
Creating curricula and spaces for transformative teaching and learning in diverse classrooms, critical dialogue, student interaction and participation; and
Encouraging innovative use of learning tools and technology to achieve learning goals.
Participants submitted proposals for formal presentations, posters, show and tell, panels and workshops. The final programme can be accessed here and a list of abstracts here.
