'MOOCs and Open Education Around the World' receives first place book award
CILT authors are contributors to the book MOOCs and Open Education Around the World which is the first place book award winner from the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT), Division of Distance Learning (DDL).
The book “explores and illuminates unique implementations of MOOCs and open education across regions and nations” and also focuses on the dilemmas and opportunities present in this ever-changing time of technology-enabled learning.
The chapter Open Education at the University of Cape Town is written by authors Czerniewicz, Cox, Hodgkinson-Williams and Willmers, all at CILT. This chapter reviews UCT’s foray and engagement with open education resources (OERs), open access, open research, open data, and other forms of open practices of the university.
AECT is a professional association of educators and others who promote using technology to improve instruction. The DDL Book Award recognises an “outstanding book published within the last three years that describes important aspects of distance education, theory or examples that can help others involved in distance education, or research on an important aspect of distance education.”
